One Manchester is a Manchester-based housing association and registered provider of social housing. It was formed in April 2015 through the merger of City South and Eastlands Homes, two of the city’s housing associations.11 It owns and manages more than 12,000 homes across central, south and east Manchester.2
Its work includes providing and maintaining homes for social rent, market rent and sale, alongside building new housing and supporting community services.512 The organisation also offers advice and opportunities related to money, wellbeing, employment and training, and works with partners on local services and neighbourhood development.5 Its activities are focused on Manchester rather than operating across the UK nationally.2
Energy efficiency and lower-carbon housing are part of its development and retrofit work. One example is Blackrock Street in Beswick, a 22-home social-rent scheme developed with Manchester City Council on a regenerated brownfield site; One Manchester says it completed the homes in October 2021 as its first net-zero-carbon homes. The organisation also says it is upgrading existing homes and incorporating measures such as insulation, low-carbon heating and renewable energy in new developments.
One Manchester’s registered office is at Lovell House, Archway 6, Manchester.2 Its current chief executive is Nicole Kershaw.4
