Nijestee is a housing corporation based in Groningen, Netherlands. It provides more than 14,000 rental homes across almost all neighbourhoods of the city, housing approximately 22,000 people. Its main office is at Damsterplein 1 in Groningen.
The organisation’s work includes letting and maintaining homes, developing new housing, improving the energy efficiency of existing properties and investing in neighbourhood liveability. Its housing portfolio serves a range of residents, with a focus on affordable homes; recent construction includes both social-rent and middle-rent housing.24 Nijestee also provides tenant support on practical issues such as repairs, rent payment difficulties and reports of nuisance, as reflected in the services listed on its website.1
Nijestee is chiefly active in Groningen. A visitation report also describes work in the surrounding municipalities of Het Hogeland and Tynaarlo, within the Groningen–Drenthe housing-market region. The organisation was formed on 31 December 1998 through the merger of Groningen housing corporations Gruno and Groningen; both predecessor organisations dated to 1919.1415
As of 2026, Nijestee is led by Sander van der Tol and Leo Hendriks. Van der Tol took up the role in 2025, and Hendriks joined him as a director that December.111213
