Metabuilding ASBL is a non-profit association established in December 2023 under Belgian law as part of the broader Metabuilding Ecosystem. The organisation focuses on supporting innovation and the adoption of new technologies within the construction sector, particularly those contributing to a sustainable, resilient, and inclusive built environment. Rather than acting as a manufacturer or commercial business, Metabuilding positions itself as a facilitator and connector for stakeholders across the construction industry.
The association offers access to sector-specific knowledge, research and development outcomes, private and public funding opportunities, as well as professional innovation services through its dedicated digital platform, metabuilding.com. Central to Metabuilding’s activities is its management of the Single-Entry Point (SEP) for the Metabuilding Labs Open Innovation Test Bed (OITB). This SEP functions as a brokerage service, providing innovators—such as small and medium-sized enterprises—with streamlined access to test facilities, up-to-date availability, and clear pricing information for services related to building envelopes.
Current practical activities include connecting users to collaborative research opportunities and enabling industry access to a network of testing infrastructure required for product development or regulatory certification. The Excellence-in-Construction Platform (ECTP) is an honorary member of Metabuilding ASBL, underscoring its integration with leading European construction innovation initiatives. Metabuilding’s core operations remain tied to its digital platform, which acts as a one-stop portal for innovation resources within the construction ecosystem.
