Groupe des Chalets is a French social-housing organisation based in Toulouse, in the Occitanie region. 69 Its origins date to 1949, when it was established within a cooperative tradition focused on making housing accessible; the Société Anonyme des Chalets was subsequently created in 1966 following a change in legislation. 29
The group’s principal activity is the development and management of affordable housing. Its portfolio includes family housing, student accommodation, foyers and senior housing, with more than 17,000 homes and equivalent units reported at 31 December 2025. 4 The organisation also provides rental management, condominium management, project ownership and urban development services for local authorities. 411
Groupe des Chalets operates across Occitanie, where its housing stock is described as serving local territorial needs and being accessible to approximately 80% of the population in the region. 7 Its activities include social renting, social home ownership, lease-purchase programmes and the Bail Réel Solidaire model, which separates ownership of land from ownership of the dwelling to reduce purchase costs. 1112
The group’s wider structure includes the SA des Chalets, the SCIC de Haute-Garonne and Occitalys Foncier, a state-approved, not-for-profit solidarity land organisation created by Groupe des Chalets. 412 It also works with partner organisations including GIE Garonne Développement and the Association pour le logement des jeunes en Occitanie. 4
