Gdańska Spółdzielnia Mieszkaniowa is a housing cooperative based in Gdańsk, Poland. It was established on 26 January 1946 as Pracownicza Spółdzielnia Mieszkaniowa w Gdańsku, with 28 founding members.1 Its first work was rebuilding war-damaged buildings on several Gdańsk streets; within four years, 345 families had received homes.1
The cooperative’s major period of residential construction ran from 1957 to 1978. Projects included housing at Raduńska and Piaskowa, and the Suchanino estate, built between 1974 and 1979 with 40 residential buildings and 2,764 apartments.1 The history page says that the cooperative subsequently concentrated on operating and maintaining its housing stock, with later additions mainly acquired buildings.1 In 1990–1991, it was divided: Suchanino became a separate cooperative, as did residents in the Rzeźnicka–Żabi Kruk–Kocurki area.1
Today, the cooperative’s stated governance structure comprises a two-person management board and a supervisory board elected for three-year terms.4 The current board listing names Anna Zieniuk as acting president and Wiesław Kozieja as deputy president.10 Its headquarters are at ul. Powstańców Warszawskich 3 in Gdańsk, and the official contact page also lists two estate administrations in the city.3 The available sources describe a Gdańsk-based housing organisation; they do not indicate a wider geographic remit.
