Fair Finance Vorsorgekasse, established in 2010 by Markus Zeilinger and headquartered in Vienna, was one of Austria’s eight provident funds (“Vorsorgekassen”) created to manage severance and retirement contributions under the country’s legal employee and self-employed pension framework. By early 2023, the organisation managed over 953 million euros in assets for more than 513,000 beneficiaries. It operated with a focus on social and ecological responsibility, integrating impact and ESG (environmental, social, governance) issues into its investment strategy.
In September 2025, Fair Finance Vorsorgekasse was acquired by Bonus Pensionskasse, joining a larger group and ceasing to exist as a separate entity under its original name. All contracts and services for existing clients were maintained post-merger, with the combined provident fund now managing around 2.7 billion euros and serving over two million members across Austria.
Fair Finance Vorsorgekasse was an early adopter of ISO 27001 certification for information security and held ISO 9001 for quality management. Its investment activities included real estate funds focusing on sustainable urban apartments in Vienna and Wiener Neustadt, as well as a venture capital fund supporting social enterprises in fields such as healthcare, inclusion, and responsible consumption. Projects included translating account statements into easy-to-understand language via partnerships with social ventures and investing in companies that enable job access for people with disadvantages or disabilities.
The company was also a member of Austria’s Green Finance Alliance, playing a pioneer role in aligning finance with ambitious climate and sustainability goals.
