The European Youth Forum is a Brussels-based platform that represents youth organisations and advocates for young people’s rights and participation in public life across Europe.1617 It brings together more than 100 National Youth Councils and international youth non-governmental organisations, collectively connected to tens of millions of young people.1618
Formally established in 1996, the Forum was created by national youth councils and international youth organisations. It is the successor to earlier European youth coordination bodies, including the Council of European National Youth Committees and the European Coordination Bureau of International Youth Organisations.812
The organisation represents members’ interests to European institutions, the Council of Europe, the United Nations and other partners active in the youth field.1118 Its work includes advocating for youth rights, promoting young people’s involvement in decision-making, and developing policy on issues affecting young people and youth organisations.1113 It also supports connections and cooperation among its member organisations and convenes them through meetings and other programmes.14
The Forum’s geographic focus is Europe, while its statutes also set out activities worldwide.14 Its registered office is at Rue de l’Industrie 10, Brussels, Belgium.17 As of the organisation’s current team page, Caillum Hedderman is President and Joan Conca Domènech is Interim Secretary General.15
