Ecobuild.brussels is a business cluster founded in November 2006 by the Brussels-Capital Region to foster sustainable construction and renovation. The organisation connects over 230 stakeholders—ranging from architects and contractors to engineering consultants and suppliers—with a focus on Brussels and its immediate surroundings. Ecobuild.brussels is hosted by hub.brussels, the Brussels Business Support Agency.
The cluster’s activities concentrate on accelerating the transition to sustainable and circular building practices. This includes facilitating knowledge sharing, providing guidance and access to specialized information, and promoting collaboration between members. The cluster actively supports the renovation of the city’s building stock and the adoption of circular economy principles such as designing for adaptability, encouraging material reuse, and reducing waste throughout a building’s life cycle.
Leadership is provided by an executive board composed of representatives from member companies. As of March 2024, the president is Anne Costa from Homegrade, with Remy Rascol from CERAU as vice president. Members represent a cross-section of the sector, including architecture, contracting, supply, and public management.
Notable recent projects presented through the cluster include Bloc M, a circular extension for AZ Herentals hospital, which demonstrates the practical application of reuse and adaptable design. The network also spotlights self-building initiatives using reclaimed materials to address urban challenges in Brussels.
