Dezeen is a London-based online publication that has established itself as one of the world's most influential voices in architecture and design since its launch in November 2006.[1] Founded by Marcus Fairs, who died in June 2022, the organization has grown from a single website into a multifaceted media enterprise with offices in New York City and Shanghai.[3]
The publication reaches over three million monthly visitors and maintains a substantial social media presence with 3.2 million Instagram followers alongside millions more across Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.[5] In March 2021, the Danish media company JP/Politiken Media Group acquired Dezeen, a move that preserved editorial independence while facilitating expansion.[3]
Beyond its core magazine function, Dezeen operates several complementary services. Dezeen Jobs serves as a recruitment platform for the design sector, while Dezeen Awards, launched in 2018, has become the industry's most prestigious annual recognition program, honoring achievements across architecture, interiors and design globally.[3][5] The organization also runs Dezeen Day, a conference that convenes professionals from the creative industries, and produces Dezeen Studio, an in-house creative team that develops branded content and events for corporate partners.[5]
The editorial scope spans contemporary architecture projects, interior design innovations, and material developments. Recent coverage includes landmark buildings scheduled for 2026 completion across various continents, from Chicago's presidential center to new skyscrapers in Albania and the Ivory Coast.[6][7] The organization operates with approximately 50 staff members and has received over forty awards for publishing excellence, including recognition for digital publishing, video innovation and commercial partnerships.[5]
