Boplats Syd is a municipally owned housing agency based in Malmö, Sweden. The company is wholly owned by the City of Malmö and has a regional mandate: it aims to support housing provision, improve access to the rental market and make it easier for people to move between municipalities. It began operating on 15 September 2009 as a local Malmö housing service and later expanded beyond the city. 31
The agency matches applicants with rental homes from private and municipal landlords across much of Skåne. Its system is based on queue time: homes are offered to the applicant with the longest queue time among those who meet the landlord’s stated requirements. The organisation describes the process as transparent and non-discriminatory. 1
In 2025, Boplats Syd arranged 9,350 apartments for 92 landlords in 32 municipalities, with 6,592 of those homes in Malmö. Its queue had 168,104 applicants at year-end. The average queue time for a rental contract that year was 3.2 years, while the median was 2.1 years. 1
Boplats Syd is politically governed. Its board consists of elected Malmö municipal politicians and appoints the chief executive. The leadership team includes CEO Anders Sjögren, administrative director Frans Stoops, housing allocation director Emelie Backman, head of marketing and digital development Nermin Delilovic, and landlord relations manager Louise Sahlsten. 1
