Bonava Danmark was the Danish unit of Bonava, a major residential development company headquartered in Stockholm. Bonava itself emerged from NCC Housing in 2016 but its roots in urban development go back to the 1930s. As part of the Nordic segment, the Danish operations were centered in or near Copenhagen and focused on building multi-family apartments and diverse residential neighborhoods.
By late 2021, Bonava announced a full exit from the Danish market: it sold its remaining land portfolio in Copenhagen to Ikano Bolig for SEK 545 million and began winding down all local operations. The company committed to completing and handing over four ongoing projects—these included developments such as Trikotageparken in Østerbro, where Bonava delivered 121 rental apartments in partnership with global investor Hines. Trikotageparken was recognized for sustainability with the Nordic Swan Ecolabel and featured a mix of one to three-bedroom units with access to parks, schools, and waterfront amenities.
By autumn 2023, Bonava expected to finish all Danish projects, though it will continue to honor warranty obligations through 2032. At the time of withdrawal, Bonava’s Nordic segment included roughly 8,100 building rights, with 500 in Denmark. The parent company, Bonava AB, remains listed in Stockholm, active in Germany, Sweden, Finland, and the Baltic states, emphasizing sustainable residential development across Northern Europe.
