Ballymore Group is a privately owned property development company founded in 1982 by Sean Mulryan and his wife Bernardine in County Kildare, Ireland. From its beginnings as a small operation primarily focused on bespoke homes in the Dublin region, the company expanded rapidly during the 1980s and 1990s to become one of Ireland’s largest residential developers. By the early 1990s, Ballymore had established a reputation for ambitious urban projects and soon pivoted to international markets, with a significant shift towards large-scale developments in London while maintaining a strong presence in Ireland.
Today, Ballymore remains under the ownership of the Mulryan family and operates primarily from Dublin, but it has extensive activities in both Ireland and the UK. In recent years, the group’s Irish portfolio has included the completion of Dublin Landings, a major regeneration project in the Docklands comprising nearly 100,000 square metres of mixed office, residential, and retail space across 13 buildings. Other active projects in the Dublin area include the development of the Dublin Arch, as well as the transformation of the St James’s Gate area at the Guinness brewery.
Ballymore’s recent activity also features residential schemes in Malahide, Newbridge, and Naas. The company claims a future pipeline with potential for 15,000 additional homes and around 4.5 million square feet of commercial space. It has received multiple industry recognitions, including Irish Developer of the Year, underlining its ongoing influence on Dublin’s urban landscape.
