Urban Transitions 2026 is an international, interdisciplinary conference on creating healthier, more sustainable cities, held in Sitges, Spain, from 10–12 November 2026. It is organised by Elsevier and supported by ISGlobal (Instituto de Salud Global Barcelona).
The event focuses on how urban and transport planning, housing, architecture, environmental exposure assessment, climate action, public health, circular economy and governance can be integrated to promote low-carbon, liveable, equitable and healthy cities. It addresses the environmental, climate and health challenges cities face, emphasising systems thinking and multi-sector approaches rather than isolated, single-policy solutions.
Keynote lectures by leading experts are complemented by contributed talks and posters on topics such as buildings and housing, sustainable transport systems, healthy cities, nature-based solutions and ecosystem services, social systems and justice, climate action and resilience, and circular economy and resource management.
Urban Transitions 2026 targets researchers, policymakers and practitioners in fields including urban planning, architecture, transport, environmental science, climate change and public health, aiming to bridge science and practice and to provide evidence and pathways for effective urban transitions.
