Urban Transitions 2026 is an international, interdisciplinary conference focused on advancing healthier, more sustainable and equitable cities through integrated urban planning, transport, environmental and health solutions. It will be held in Sitges, Spain, from 10–12 November 2026 at the Meliá Sitges Hotel Congress Centre.
Organised by Elsevier and supported by ISGlobal (Instituto de Salud Global Barcelona), the event brings together researchers, policymakers and practitioners from fields such as urban and transport planning, architecture, environmental exposure assessment, environmental epidemiology, public health, climate change, circular economy and urban governance.
The conference will explore how cities can address environmental, climate and health challenges through systemic, multi-sector approaches rather than isolated, single-policy interventions. Keynote lectures from leading experts will be complemented by contributed talks, posters and workshops.
Core thematic areas include buildings and housing, sustainable transport systems, healthy cities, nature-based solutions and ecosystem services, social systems and justice, governance, climate action and resilience, and circular economy and resource management across food–water–energy–waste systems.
Urban Transitions 2026 aims to generate evidence and share best practices that support low-carbon, liveable, inclusive and healthy urban environments, and to build a holistic case for transformative urban change.
