Smart City Expo World Congress 2026 is the world’s largest event focused on smart cities and urban innovation, returning to Barcelona, Spain, from November 3 to 5, 2026 at Fira Barcelona’s Gran Via venue. It is organized by Fira Barcelona, which has led the Smart City Expo World Congress since its launch in 2011.
The 2026 edition will gather a global community of city leaders, government officials, industry executives, urban planners, researchers, startups, and entrepreneurs to explore how technology and new governance models can make cities more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient. Core themes typically span enabling technologies, energy and environment, mobility, governance and economy, living and inclusion, infrastructure and building, and the blue economy.
Across three days, attendees can expect a large exhibition area with more than a thousand exhibitors, an international congress program with several hundred speakers, and extensive networking and matchmaking opportunities. The event is designed both as a marketplace for urban solutions and as a high-level forum for policy dialogue, best-practice exchange, and partnerships between cities, companies, and organizations worldwide.
