The EFA26 - European Forum Alpbach is an annual interdisciplinary conference organized by the European Forum Alpbach, an Austrian nonprofit organization and foundation based in Vienna, chaired by President Othmar Karas. Starting November 2025, it will be led by Secretary General and Managing Director Nikola Donig and Managing Director Barbara Zimmermann.
Scheduled from August 24 to September 4, 2026, in the village of Alpbach, Tyrol, Austria, the event gathers over 4,000 participants from more than 70 countries, including decision-makers from politics, business, science, culture, and committed young people via scholarships.
Under the theme "How Europe Wins," it explores strategies for Europe's success amid global challenges, focusing on thematic tracks like Climate, Security, Finance and Economy, and Democracy and the Rule of Law. The program features seminars, workshops, hikes, fireside chats, arts exhibitions, concerts, and Alpbach in Motion for emerging leaders.
Founded in 1945, the forum fosters ideas for a strong, democratic Europe through open dialogue and intergenerational exchange, with a global network of alumni groups promoting its spirit. Participation is open to all via the official website.
