Qville

Qville is an innovative ecological co-housing project located in Essen, Belgium, designed by B-architecten. The development transforms the former Quarantine stables, a listed monument, into a sustainable living community. Spanning 1.7 hectares, Qville comprises 44 near-zero energy dwellings, ranging from one to four bedrooms, including intergenerational homes.

The project preserves the site's historical significance by restoring original volumes and rebuilding disappeared structures. Qville emphasizes community living with shared amenities such as an indoor swimming pool, wellness area, community center with flexible workspaces, and a roofed terrace featuring a swimming pond. The development promotes eco-friendly transportation, offering car-sharing locations, solar energy charging stations, and common bicycle sheds.

Qville's design prioritizes sustainability and social interaction. The traffic-free nature of the site encourages a pedestrian-friendly environment. The commercial area at the front includes a pub and bed-and-breakfasts for visitors, while an exhibition space at the entrance provides historical information about the site.
