Bournville Village Trust (BVT) is an independent charitable trust founded by social reformer and Quaker George Cadbury in 1900. He established it to act as custodian of the Bournville Estate, ensuring its homes, buildings, amenities, parks and open spaces would continue to benefit the community after his death. 12
Based in Bournville, Birmingham, BVT works in central and south Birmingham and in Telford, including the communities of Lawley and Lightmoor Village. Its work combines estate management and housing with community-support services. The Trust manages the Bournville Estate and other neighbourhoods, provides social-rented and affordable homes, and manages commercial premises; it reinvests surplus from commercial activity in the communities it serves. 2811 Its website reports services for more than 9,000 households and management of nearly 3,700 social-rented and affordable homes. 2
BVT’s remit reflects its origins in the planned village developed around the Cadbury factory, but its present activities extend beyond Bournville to a range of urban and new communities. It is a registered charity and a registered social housing provider. 12 The Trust’s 2025 annual report identifies Pete Richmond as chief executive and gives its registered office and principal place of business as 350 Bournville Lane, Bournville, Birmingham. 8
