Asociația Casa Jakab Toffler is a residents’ association based at the historic Jakab Toffler building, at Strada Constantin Titel Petrescu 4 in Timișoara, Romania. Its registered office is listed at that address. The association was established on 7 April 2022. 2
The initiative was formed by tenants of the building to create opportunities for social interaction connected to housing and shared living spaces. Its stated aims include strengthening relationships among residents and with the wider Fabric neighbourhood, encouraging cultural exchange, opposing discrimination, and valuing the neighbourhood’s tangible and intangible heritage. 412
A central activity has been Social Fabric, a programme of projects and public events developed around the building’s courtyard and garden. From 2022 to 2024, the programme included architecture work with university students, resident consultations, and improvements to the shared space. Additions included garden furniture, a compost bin, a projection screen and a raised herb bed; the garden was opened for use by neighbourhood residents and the wider public. 1112
The association has also worked with Minitremu on F.I.D. (Football as Infrastructure for Democracy), a project using amateur football and a participatory installation in Traian Square as a platform for social and cultural interaction in Fabric. 11 Its events and residencies have included workshops, exhibitions, discussions, film screenings, performances and concerts, often connecting community activity with architecture, art and local heritage. 1213
The association’s documented work is concentrated in Timișoara, especially the Fabric district, and engages local residents and visitors rather than operating across Romania or internationally. 1112
