Mieterverein Düsseldorf e.V. is a tenant association based in Düsseldorf, Germany, representing tenants’ legal and housing-policy interests in Düsseldorf and surrounding municipalities. The association was founded on 16 January 1899 and is registered with the Düsseldorf Local Court under association register number VR 3094.72
Its headquarters and main advice centre are located at Oststraße 47, 40211 Düsseldorf.21 The association also provides local advice through offices in Neuss and Ratingen, as well as locations in Erkrath and Grevenbroich.1315 Its service area additionally includes Kaarst, Meerbusch and Korschenbroich, giving it a regional rather than purely municipal scope.1116
The organisation provides members with advice and out-of-court assistance on tenancy matters. Its services cover rent increases, heating and service-charge statements, tenancy agreements, terminations, housing defects, deposits, rent reductions and applications for housing benefit.16 The association’s statutes provide for free advice and out-of-court handling of members’ tenancy matters, subject to the stated membership conditions.12
Mieterverein Düsseldorf reports more than 34,000 members as of 1 January 2025.14 It is affiliated with the Deutscher Mieterbund Landesverband NRW and, through it, the Deutscher Mieterbund at federal level.12 Alongside individual legal assistance, it advocates publicly for tenant protections and social housing policy at municipal, North Rhine-Westphalia and federal levels.17
