The International Day of Cooperatives 2026 is a global observance celebrating cooperative enterprises and their contribution to sustainable, inclusive development. It will be held on 4 July 2026, the first Saturday of July, with activities taking place worldwide and specific locations still to be determined.
The event is organised primarily by the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA), which has led the celebration of International Cooperative Day since 1923, in joint observance with the United Nations’ International Day of Cooperatives since 1995. The Day aims to raise awareness of how cooperatives help reduce poverty, promote economic democracy, foster social cohesion, and support environmental sustainability by putting people, rather than capital, at the centre of enterprise.
Through education campaigns, local events, and global communication coordinated via the CoopsDay website, cooperatives, their members, and partners will showcase successful cooperative models across sectors such as agriculture, finance, housing, health, energy, and retail. The 2026 edition will continue the tradition of using a unifying annual theme to highlight the role of cooperatives in addressing current global challenges and advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
