The Adaptable Building Conference (ABC), the inaugural event organized by the Adaptable Building Club—a research initiative founded by Knauf in partnership with TU Eindhoven and initiated by industry partners including Hettich and Tesa—will take place on January 22, 2026, at Nieuwe Instituut in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
This one-day symposium unites architects, planners, developers, policymakers, and innovators to explore adaptable buildings that evolve with changing needs, addressing climate crises, housing shortages, and rigid infrastructure through circular, modular, and flexible design. Key topics include office-to-residential conversions, urban planning, sustainable systems, and new business models, with the introduction of an Adaptable Building Certificate to measure performance.
Featured speakers include Marc Koehler (Superlofts), Steven Paynter (Gensler), Paco Bunnik (Amsterdam Municipality), Daniel Veenboer (Ramboll), Lukas Kauer (Panels by Knauf), and moderator Robert Thiemann (BETTERNESS/Frame), plus others like Cécile Faraud (C40 Cities) and Hubert Rhomberg (Rhomberg Group). The event offers in-person attendance, live streaming, and tickets from €29 (students) to €79 (regular). Register at adaptablebuilding.club to join discussions fostering resilient architecture.
