The 19th Bundeskongress Nationale Stadtentwicklungspolitik is the central annual forum for urban development in Germany, bringing together over 1,000 participants from politics, administration, science, civil society, and practice to exchange ideas, discuss challenges like climate change and sustainable quarters, and shape strategies for resilient cities and regions.
Organized jointly by the Bundesministerium für Wohnen, Stadtentwicklung und Bauwesen (BMWSB), the Bauministerkonferenz der Länder, the Deutscher Städtetag, and the Deutscher Städte- und Gemeindebund, the event will take place from September 14 to 16, 2026, in Cologne at the Palladium and other venues. It follows the 18th congress in Rostock in 2025 under the motto "Sozial – Produktiv – Grün: Quartiere gut gemacht," featuring forums, panels, keynotes, and excursions.
