Scandi Byg is a Danish modular construction company based in Løgstør in northern Jutland, where it develops and produces factory-built timber modules for projects across Denmark and abroad.
The company traces its roots to 1977, when it was founded as Scandi Byg A/S by Hans Jørgen Madsen and carpenter and joiner Niels M. Storvang, who already ran construction activities in the Løgstør area in the 1960s. Over the following decades, Scandi Byg specialised in industrially manufactured building modules, gradually becoming a significant supplier of prefabricated housing, offices, schools, institutions and pavilions for professional and public clients.
Production is concentrated at the factory on Tolstrupvej in Løgstør, where modules are assembled in large workshop buildings before being transported to construction sites. According to company information and industry partners, Scandi Byg works primarily with timber-based systems and has delivered modular buildings that can be certified under schemes such as the Nordic Swan Ecolabel and DGNB.
In recent years, the firm has been involved in developing standardised yet adaptable housing concepts in cooperation with architects, for example multi-storey modular housing built in wood. Such concepts are aimed at social housing associations and other developers looking for cost-controlled residential projects with documented lifecycle carbon calculations.
After a period of financial difficulty and bankruptcy proceedings in early 2025, Scandi Byg continues in a downsized form from Løgstør under the ownership of Nordic Wood Industries, with a reduced but experienced workforce focusing on completing ongoing modular construction projects and maintaining its core expertise in industrialised building.
