The Goldschmeding Foundation, based in Amsterdam, Netherlands, was established in 2015 by Frits Goldschmeding, founder of staffing giant Randstad. Goldschmeding, who died in July 2024 at age 90, started Randstad in 1960 from a dorm room with a fellow student, each investing 500 guilders; it grew into a company with 40,000 employees across 39 countries and €25.4 billion in 2023 revenue.
The foundation channels his wealth—estimated at €5.8 billion before his death—into projects addressing labor market challenges. It operates three programs: Inclusive Labor Market, aiming for universal work participation among the able and willing; Future-Proof Work, focusing on adaptability to economic transitions; and Humane Economy, embedding others' interests in business practices.
Recent initiatives include support for IT talent among newcomers, as highlighted in a December 2025 media report, and efforts to integrate refugees like postman Mark Bruin at PostNL. Funding goes to initiatives with proven societal impact, using the foundation's knowledge and networks. No specific grant totals are public, but it prioritizes lasting changes in work and cooperation.
