Eurhonet, the European Housing Network, is a Belgium-registered international non-profit organization that brings together 39 public and social housing providers from Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. Founded in 2005, Eurhonet has grown to represent nearly 1 million homes and around 2 million tenants, making it one of the largest platforms for public and affordable housing in Europe.
The organization’s core mission is to foster learning and development among its members to improve services for tenants and strengthen professional practices. Eurhonet achieves this by facilitating structured exchange around four main themes: sustainable construction, social integration, ageing, and digital communication and technology. It does so through topic groups, workshops, and skills development programs. Members regularly collaborate to test and share new models for tackling sector challenges.
Eurhonet also supports member involvement in EU-funded projects, including initiatives focusing on energy saving and corporate social responsibility (CSR). Past projects such as AFTER and BECA have addressed energy efficiency in social housing. The organization publishes reports and highlights members’ local innovations, such as Vienna’s Wiener Wohnen being recognized for case management practices supporting social sustainability.
Rather than operating as a trade group, Eurhonet functions as a cross-border competence center, emphasizing actionable knowledge exchange without commercial competition among members. The network is headquartered at Square de Meeûs 18, Brussels, and remains a platform for public-good-driven collaboration in Europe’s housing sector.
