EUROPE – A Cultural Project is the 2024 Berlin Conference marking 20 years of dialogue on Europe’s cultural and political future. Taking place on November 7-8 at the Allianz Forum near the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, this event brings together leaders from the arts, politics, and civil society from over 30 countries to reflect on Europe’s shared identity, the role of culture in EU enlargement, and the need for collective action.
The program is a mix of keynote conversations, breakout sessions, and policy analysis, with participants including prominent artists, policymakers, and younger voices (about 30% under 30). The first day focuses on the place of arts and culture in navigating European challenges and EU enlargement, while the second day emphasizes exchanging practical insights and producing actionable strategies for Europe’s democratic and cultural resilience.
Key organisers of the event are Stiftung Zukunft Berlin, the civil society initiative A Soul for Europe, the European Festivals Association, and the Evangelische Akademie zu Berlin, supported by partners from across Europe. The conference aims to demonstrate that Europe’s “soul” is shaped by its people and cultural actors, encouraging ongoing cooperation for a democratic and culturally vibrant continent.
