Innovate for Europe: a showcase of solutions in green tech, health tech and smart city solutions

It highlights the URBAN TECH final event that brought together various innovative companies and investors to discuss advancements in sustainable technology and urban solutions.

The URBAN TECH event took place in Vienna, Austria, as part of the Impact Days 2024 festival. This event provided a platform for over 20 companies to pitch their solutions addressing challenges in green technology, health technology, and smart city development. The morning featured interviews with 22 companies, showcasing their innovative solutions, while the afternoon included investor meetups and a pitch competition.

The pitch competition saw 12 companies compete across three sectors: green tech, health tech, and smart city solutions. IngeniousWare, OwnersPartners, and Zana Technologies emerged as winners in their respective categories, each receiving a €5,000 prize. IngeniousWare presented a platform for managing water networks, while OwnersPartners introduced a smart charging station for electric personal mobility vehicles, and Zana Technologies showcased a digital companion for COPD rehabilitation.

IngeniousWare developed a cloud-based platform that automates the management of water networks, preventing root rot and ensuring efficient water usage. The platform provides detailed visualization tools for water infrastructure, real-time calculations of water balances, and customized reports on consumption, significantly addressing global water scarcity.

OwnersPartners created QUICK, a smart charging station for integrating electric personal mobility vehicles into urban environments. Equipped with features like UV disinfection and air quality monitoring, QUICK aims to enhance urban mobility while promoting sustainability through solar panels and a user-friendly app for managing station usage.

Zana Technologies developed a digital patient companion to support at-home rehabilitation for COPD patients. This tool offers personalized exercise programs, vital sign monitoring, and communication channels with healthcare providers, enhancing patient engagement and self-management of chronic conditions.

The URBAN TECH project collected 314 challenges from 12 countries and received 559 applications through an open call for solutions. A total of 80 companies were invited to submit proposals, leading to 33 working solutions tested in real environments. The project provided €2+ million in financial support to over 160 companies.

The URBAN TECH initiative aims to support the commercialization of innovative solutions developed during the project. By focusing on international partnerships and expanding market presence, participating companies are poised to make significant contributions to sustainable urban development and environmental sustainability. This resource serves as a comprehensive overview of innovative technologies and collaborations aimed at addressing pressing urban challenges, highlighting the importance of sustainable solutions in modern society.
