Quartier am Rotweg is a cooperative housing development in Stuttgart-Rot, in the city of Stuttgart, Germany. It is being developed jointly by Neues Heim – Die Baugenossenschaft eG and Baugenossenschaft Zuffenhausen eG, on a site where the first buildings of Neues Heim were constructed in the late 1940s. 21
The project was included in the International Building Exhibition 2027 StadtRegion Stuttgart (IBA’27) in July 2021. Construction began in October 2024, and the foundation stone was laid on 23 May 2025. The development is intended to be ready for the IBA exhibition year in 2027. 41510
Plans describe a mixed-use neighbourhood with more than 220 rental homes; IBA’27 lists around 220 apartments on an approximately two-hectare site. The housing is designed to support different household needs and stages of life, with accessible and inclusive options and shared living arrangements. Other planned facilities include an inclusive daycare centre, care-focused shared housing, communal spaces, open areas and food-related and other community services. 4111
The buildings are planned using timber-hybrid construction. The project’s stated scope includes accommodation for up to about 600 residents, alongside space for work and community activity. Key people named in connection with the project include Rüdiger Maier, chair of Neues Heim, and Bernd Heinl, a board member of Baugenossenschaft Zuffenhausen. 41
